J.J. Burgess versus Ivy D’Angelo. The beach, Jamaica. Cameras: on. Audio: on.
It’s night time and a full moon is in the night sky. J.J. Burgess is shown laying in the sand under the camera spotlight plus the flash of another camera. She’s barefoot while wearing a pastel yellow robe covered in rhinestones and sequins and round sunglasses with pastel yellow frames. The pastel yellow rhinestone and sequin covered robe is soaking wet and clinging to J.J.’s brown skin. She changes her pose to something that looks like a cat about to pounce.
“You look great J.J.!” the photographer says to J.J. while taking pictures.
“Wow. Her skin looks so good,” a person responsible for lighting says to the photographer.
“Why is she always covered up all the fucking time?” a staff member asks.
J.J. turns to the direction of the voice who asked that question and scowls. It was a middle aged man who begins to realize that J.J. heard him.
“Shut up and go watch porn. My body ain’t your business,” J.J. says angrily to the middle aged man.
The middle aged man becomes red in the face. Yet he remains silent. There’s an awkward silence and everyone besides J.J. freezes. She smiles at the camera and does another pose sitting on the sand.
“Keep taking pictures,” J.J. says to the photographer.
He begins to take pictures again. The flash of the camera starts again. J.J. does another pose, rolling over on to her stomach. Then Crystal Miller walks up to the photographer. She taps his shoulder and leans in. She’s talking but not loud enough for what she’s says to be understood.
“Crystal what is going on?” J.J. asks Crystal in a authoritative tone.
Crystal stops talking to the photographer and turns to J.J. Crystal smiles at J.J.
“Oh sorry. I was just asking when this photoshoot will be done. Rock ‘N’ Roll God wants me to interview you about your match on the next Friday Night Revolution,” Crystals says politely to J.J.
J.J. sighs.
“Yeah he told me about that. The photoshoot is optional the interview isn’t. So you know what, I will go ahead and take a ten minute break to get this interview done,” J.J. says to the photographer.
The photographer gives an exasperated sigh. He claps his hands twice as hard as he can.
The photographer shouts: “Alright everybody let’s take ten minutes!”
J.J. Burgess versus Ivy D’Angelo. The beach, Kingston, Jamaica. Cameras: off. Audio: off.
Everybody around J.J. starts to leave. The cameraman and Crystal stays where they are. J.J. gets up out of the sand. She walks over to Crystal. J.J. slips on her socks and shoes. Crystal points to a bench near the ECWF black SUV that the staff and equipment arrived in. They walk over to the bench in silence and the cameraman follows. When they get to the bench they both sit down.
J.J. Burgess versus Ivy D’Angelo. The beach, Kingston, Jamaica. Cameras: on. Audio: on.
Crystal lifts up her microphone and smiles at the camera.
“Hello ECWF fans. It’s Crystal Miller here with J.J. Burgess,” Crystal says in her usual perky demeanor.
J.J. doesn’t smile but waves at the camera regardless.
“Can’t Stop Won’t Stop J.J. Burgess,” J.J. says as confidently as possible to the camera.
Crystal turns her attention to J.J. J.J. can feel Crystal looking at her but J.J. doesn’t budge.
“So lately you have been on the receiving end of many losses in matches for championships or matches that can make you a number one contender for championships. How do you plan to rebound from these losses?” Crystal asks J.J.
“Yeah, on some real shit I see the mistakes I made in my previous matches. There are many things I still have to learn. But I’m better now than before. That’s what’s important. I snap my hips faster for each of my suplexes. My grip for all my submission holds has become more difficult to break. I’m all about competition and improvement. The more I learn the more dangerous I become. Someone like Heather Haze will laugh while carrying a toy barbie belt. However in another year or two I will put someone like her into her grave. Women like Crystal Zdunich and Claire Hawkins think they’re untouchable sitting on top of the ECWF women’s division. That nobody can challenge them. I’m here to tell y’all now, I’m not going to let anything get in my way. I chose this occupation and unlike so many girls I’m determined to continue studying this great art form called professional wrestling,” J.J. says not removing her sunglasses.
Her energy goes directly to the camera. She doesn’t have to show her eyes for anyone watching this interview to know she’s serious.
“Well, Ivy D’Angelo is one half of the PWC women’s tag team champ - ” Crystal begins to say.
J.J. at the peak of her impatience already interrupts Crystal: “I don’t give a shit. I’m not surprised at a uncharismatic girl like her has a tag team title with her own sister. Rose D’Angelo claimed to be the ‘Rebel’ while piggybacking off a faction of men through this industry. Now her sister Ivy who calls herself ‘Poison’ and isn’t any better in the ring, is piggybacking her way through this industry too. The D’Angelos aren’t talented. Periodt. End of discussion. Whether they’re in a faction like The Kingdom or not. I feel no respect or fear when it comes to either one of them. I know Rose will be at ring side because neither one of them can fight their own battles. Scary ass basic ass bitches with fishnets and black leather jackets on. I’m going to put this out there and I don’t care who’s offended. The D’Angelos being PWC women’s tag team championships doesn’t equate to them being two of the three best women’s wrestlers in PWC, it just means that the rest of the PWC women’s division ain’t got what it takes to be worth a damn if the D’Angelo sisters are dominating them like that.”
Crystal Miller’s facial expression is full of shock. J.J. has usually been cordial in interviews and tries not to be irritated with Crystal. Crystal regains her composure and tries not to be upset. She plasters on a small fake smile for the second time.
“So you’re confident that you can defeat a current champion?” Crystal asks.
“Friday Night Revolution #170. It was me versus Latoya Hixx, Rose D'Angelo, Sarah Frost, Jennifer Williams, and Roxanne w/Jaxon Cooper in a battle royal. I won. If I can win a battle royal involving Rose then I can serve a ass whooping to Ivy in a singles match. Ivy your sister can’t save you. I’m a superior athlete to you. I’m a superior athlete to your sister. You can’t fight. You might try to cheat but I’m smarter than you inside the squared circle. I can hit you with the Hip and Run and you would crumble. I could lock in the Badge of Dishonor and it’s over for you. You can try to hit me with the Fall From Heaven or the Garden State Stunner and I will get back up. Matter of fact you’re so lacking in talent you probably can’t even get me caught up in such a way to do your finisher. I’m built different and you know it. If you don’t know it you will find out,” J.J. says using more restraint.
J.J. refuses to turn to look at Crystal. She leans back against the bench. She folds her arms. Crystal goes forward with the interview despite the awkwardness.
“So if you win, do you believe that you will deserve another chance to be number one contender for the ECWF Women’s World championship or the Diamond championship?” Crystal asks quickly.
J.J. nods her head without hesitation.
“Technically yeah. But I have so many losses behind me that Rock ‘N’ Roll God will most likely want me to prove myself once more. It will be another journey. I’m not afraid to earn every bit of what I get. No nepotism. No piggybacking. No swaggerjacking. Just being a real woman who is determined to ply her craft and have at least a little fun doing it. I can deliver in the ring and on the mic. Everybody should be doing the same and yet they don’t. Poor that. Not my problem. I will run through these heifers. That’s all you are Ivy. Just like your sister Rose was in that battle royal. A stepping stool to achieving greatness. It ain’t easy being a true women’s wrestler. It ain’t easy being me. Being anybody else isn’t an option though. Putting my foot in your ass is all I need to do Ivy and if she isn’t careful Rose will suffer the same fate,” J.J. says her voice completely cold in contrast to the Jamaican weather.
The photographer walks up to the cameraman and rolls his eyes.
“I hate to interrupt ladies but Rock ‘N’ Roll God just called me. He changed his mind. He wanted some pictures of J.J. like yesterday,” the photographer says annoyed.
“That’s cool I have stated all I the facts I need to state anyway,” J.J. says to the photographer.
J.J. finally acknowledges Crystal’s presence by looking at her.
“Bye Crystal,” J.J. says quickly.
J.J. stands up and walks over to the photographer before Crystal can respond.
